Hostalen 4731B

Natural
Description
Hostalen 4731B is a PE-RT Type II high-density polyethylene designed for hot water pipe systems, offering confirmed 50-year service life at 70°C per ISO 9080, with a tensile modulus of 850 MPa and Charpy impact of 24 kJ/m² at 23°C. At a density of 0.947 g/cm³ and MFR of 0.45 g/10 min (5 kg), Hostalen 4731B eliminates the crosslinking step required by PE-X while exceeding minimum PE-RT Type II design stress values by 10-23%.
Processing Techniques
Pipe extrusion is the primary process for Hostalen 4731B, which can be run on existing HDPE or PP-R equipment without modification. The high melt viscosity provides excellent pipe dimension stability during extrusion, and Hostalen 4731B requires no crosslinking step, simplifying production of underfloor heating, plumbing, and high-voltage cable ducting.
