HDPE, polypropylene and LDPE for industrial packaging cover jerry cans, drums, IBCs, crates, sacks and strapping, plus base resins for compounders. Each part has to come through rough handling, often with chemicals inside or a load on top.

Industrial applications
Start from the part you make. Each page explains what the part asks of the polymer and lists the grades that fit.
A jerry can that splits when dropped full, a crate that cracks in a cold store, a strap that snaps before the pallet is secure: industrial parts are judged on whether they survive.
Containers hold chemicals under load. HDPE drums and jerry cans and other dangerous-goods containers need HDPE of high molecular weight, which balances stiffness against environmental stress-cracking resistance (ESCR) and cold drop impact. Composite IBCs use the same HDPE at a bigger scale.
Returnables need cold toughness and stiffness. For reusable transport packaging such as crates and boxes, impact copolymers stay tough in cold stores and HDPE adds stress-cracking resistance. HDPE injection grades also go into pallets and bins.
Sacks and straps carry the load. Heavy-duty sacks, covered on polyolefin shrink film and sacks, need puncture resistance and low creep under a palletised load. Raffia, tapes and strapping are judged by drawability and break strength, and woven tape also goes into big bags.
Compounders need consistency. Polymer compounding starts from form (powder or pellet), stabilisation and carrier flow. A base resin is an input to someone else's specification, so batch-to-batch consistency is part of the choice. Ask us which grades match your container or part.

Drums and jerry cans for dangerous goods are tested and marked as a design type under chapter 6.1 of the UN Model Regulations, applied to road transport in Europe through the ADR; IBCs follow chapter 6.5. The UN mark belongs to the container design, not the resin, and a change of material can mean new tests.
The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40 covers industrial and transport packaging too, but dangerous-goods packaging is exempt from its recycled-content minimums. Ask us for the producer's data sheet and regulatory summary for your design file.

From 1 January 2030 the PPWR sets re-use targets for transport packaging such as crates, drums, IBCs and pallets, with exemptions. Reusable crates and pallets need stiffness and stress-cracking resistance over many trips. Tell us the design and we will suggest grades.
